Party on Wheels

A few weeks ago Marco and I set off on what many call the Wasatch Back: a team of 12 runners divided into 2 vans running a relay over some 188 miles over the mountains between Logan and Park City. Now that I've been, I'd just have to call it a party on wheels! OK, you sweat a lot more and work a lot harder than you would at a party, but we had a BLAST! This is our Van 2 crew. Some were pregnant, some were injured, some just off a marathon the week before, but we all gave it our best and had fun.
Here I am receiving the 'baton' which was really a slap band for your wrist. It was hot as a chucker outside that day, good thing our shortest legs were during the heat of the day. There wasn't enough water in all the Jordanelle to keep us cool or hydrated, it seemed.
Yea, my sexy running partner. He just can't resist a photo shoot. One day that may come back and bite him in the butt.
I handed off to Marco, and then was his 'water girl' along the road. We'd follow alongside him as he ran and offer him water or gatorade every mile or 2. His ankle was FAT as could be from a Bball sprain but that didn't slow him down any! You're a champ, babe!
We each ran a total of about 17 miles broken up into 3 different legs. Some ran in the middle of the night (loved the cool weather!) others had to climb steep mountains, and still others had to descend them. We all agreed that we'd do it again...but I was surprised when half our team signed up the next week for the Ragnar Relay, Las Vegas. I guess they meant it! I will NOT be joining them on that one. Really?? Run the desert? Vegas? OK, well, have fun!

I'll wait until it comes back to Utah. Good times though, good times!

So much fun, and what a cute couple! I love Marco's pose. I do miss you running with me!

You are so lucky to have such great sisters. That is what I always tell Callie and Nikki, that their friends will come and go, but they will always have eachother.
